Infinity Table Settings: 09.07.14

Our speaker for this evening was Keith Whittaker from Infinity Restaurant, which is part of the Stockton Riverside College.

He instructed us (with the help of a short video) on how to correctly lay a table for our next dinner party.

We were then inducted into the fine art of napkin folding!  We began with the Bishop's Hat:

It is interesting to note that you could place your bread roll inside the hat!

Our next creation was the Bird of Paradise.  A little trickier, but VERY impressive!

Finally, we were shown the most popular napkin-folding pattern - the fan:

The competition entry was your favourite cookbook or recipe and there were a lot of entries for Keith to look at before he could choose the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places!

Keith was very entertaining, charming and patient with us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Christopher Dresser Collection at the Dorman Museum

We have been having a wonderful time lately cleaning the beautiful artefacts of the  Christopher Dresser Collection at the Dorman Museum.  Not only is this very close to our hearts (with the Linthorpe Pottery being on our doorstep) but we were also able to get the first lookat (and handle!) some of these beautiful items before they are unveiled to the public.  What a true privilege!

This endeavour has also given us a little publicity!  We have appeared in the Evening Gazette newspaper and on the Look North news programme too - if you slide the bar to 11.20 minutes you will find our report: even though they do refer to us as Middlesbrough WI! <sigh>

However, it is still some much-appreciated publicity for the Linthorpe Pottery and for the WI!
