Linthorpe Potteries: Dr Christopher Dresser's Dream 12.02.14

Arrangements are well under way for our Seaside Communal Table for the Mount Leven Spring Show - details are tip-top secret at this stage but we have high hopes this year!  Pam gave us a very detailed, organised and enthusiastic update on our progress so far at our monthly meeting. :oD

Our speaker last night was Gillian Moore, who introduced us to Dr Christopher Dresser, the designer behind Linthorpe Potteries.  It is remarkable to think that he was at one time internationally renowned and on a par with William Morris but, for some unknown reason, has fallen under his shadow: it's time to restore Dr Christopher Dresser to his rightful place!

Everyone certainly got into the spirit of things because the competition (a piece of pottery) was so well received that we had to use two tables to display all the entries.

Gillian very kindly judged the competition for us, stating that one entry was "so horrible that it was fantastic" (and gained 2nd place!)
