We kicked off the New Year in outstanding fashion by organising our first guest speaker as Radio Tees DJ, John Foster. He was very friendly, immensely entertaining and gave a very enjoyable talk on his early life and how he first realised that his life's passion was to work in radio. We joined him on the trials and tribulations, exhilarating highs and crushing lows that have brought him to his present-day work at Radio Tees (is it still classed as 'work' when it is a passion?).
We shared his various interviews including his number 1 favourite meeting with Bob Monkhouse - he has the autographed book and photograph to prove it! (though it is more of a personal letter to John from Bob - rather than a simple autograph). We 'oohed' and 'aahed' over his photographs and many hairstyle changes and even brushed away tears when he explained his most memorable on-air interview with Adrian Ludley and how John and the rest of the team helped him to find a recording of his later father's song "Seasons in the Sun". This was recorded for the BBC tv programme "Inside Out" and you can see it here (be warned - you'll need tissues ready!)
