Welcome to the blog
Hello there everyone firstly let me apologise for not updating the blog sooner, I am a Twitter/Facebook kinda girl, I blame the text revelation making me lazy.
However we have had another amazingly busy year at Linthorpe WI headquarters. We have had some sad news as a few members are no longer with us but we remember the fabulous time that we all shared with these great ladies.
But looking to happier events.
2016 was another successful year, we now have 39 members, including some members from Acklam WI. It's always sad when a WI closes but it's great to see that many members have joined other groups to stay in The WI family and they have made themselves at home with us.
As usual, we have attended numerous Federation Workshops and Mount Leven Group events.
We completed our 100 miles for the Centenary Event and a book containing our walks was displayed at the Federation Meeting.
This years Federation meal was a great success attended by many of our members and friends. The Yorkshire Shepherdess, Amanda Owen, gave a really fascinating talk and I could have listened to her tales from the Dales all day long.
Our Supper Club and Craft Club are still very popular and we have enjoyed rag rugging and making felted soaps among lots of other things. Sometimes we even get to finish our projects as I am so guilty of having a bag full of WIPs. But even if your not crafty you're welcome for a cuppa and a chat.
We have had lots of interesting speakers during the year and Carole also arranged a visit to Hartlepool Power Station, which was very informative.
3 of us, including the link delegate Barbara, attended the Annual General Meeting in Brighton which was a very enjoyable weekend.
Our Summer Walk, originally from the Majuba Car Park to the Stray at Redcar, turned into an early evening in the pub. The rain was so heavy we were drenched in minutes so abandoned the walk in favour of an early meal, drink and chat.
Our Birthday Party coincided with the Queen’s so we had a right Royal event with posh frocks, hats in some cases, bucks fizz, royal cup cakes and a royal quiz.
Our outing this year was to Harewood House, we had glorious weather and a really lovely day.
We would like to thank everyone for working together to make us a happy successful WI.
Onto the 2017 ladies, I can't wait xXx
